Sunday Supper :: Paperfinger

Wednesday, December 22, 2010 Uncategorized

In continuation with the whimsical feel we called upon Bryn from Paperfinger to create some customized papery for the event. Bryn hand wrote these beautiful menus, and how great is the illustration of each course?.
We also had a station for a small bite when guests arrived (where we served homemade burrata, foccacia and tomato jam). And a thank you gift ? Tomato Jam (so so delish, recipe coming soon). If you haven’t already seen Bryn’s talents- check out her work here and her awesome blog here.

The flowers for the supper were created by the super talented Jessie from Rountree. We asked Jessie to create single flower arrangements with a wintery cheer. Jessie used an array of grasses, flowers and berries which we ran down the center of the table.  The primary colors were a perfect pop for the dark table, and the awesome textures were an unexpected surprise. In case you’re wondering the wheaty looking one is called bunnytail (how cute:). We think these arrangements could be a perfect holiday tabletop, don’t you? If you’re going the diy route, you can pick up the bud vases from crate and barrel here.  Menus and papery details up next…

As promised, below are some photos from the latest Private Sunday Supper- held at a clients’ home.  A group of 10 close friends assembled for a birthday dinner party and we came in to do the food, details etc. We brought all of our dishes and tableware , we had flowers created by Rountree Flowers. Bryn from Paperfinger designed the beautiful calligraphy pieces (more on these in part 2). And the food ? Camille Becerra created a playful Italian menu that kept everyone busy for a full dining experience. The menu…

amuse
blossom tempura, caviar cream, cucumber

first course
homemade pasta
herbs, bacon, egg

second course
halibut
cauliflower, sesame

Weekend Guide

Saturday, December 11, 2010 Uncategorized

So first off an apology, since I was supposed to post the photos from our private event – but taking care of little Sophia is really a full time job and sometimes the week just flies by so quickly. She had her first vaccination this week, which made her a bit sad and fussy – and needed all of my attention. So – promise ! next week…a full post of the event.  As for the weekend, we will be home, hibernating with the little one – but here are a few suggestions for you guys…. Number one on our list is Saipua’s Holiday Bazaar this Sunday ! One of our favorite floral designers of all time, plus her amazing soaps, wreathes, baked goods and more. We’re also curious about the new Ger-Nis Culinary + Herb center, also here in Brooklyn, and there are classes for you to try if you’re curious too. And don’t forget it’s cocoa day ! We want Popbar’s chocolate on a stick, to be swirled in your steaming hot milk. The perfect Christmas shopping pep in your step. Have a great weekend everyone ! (Above Photo: Flowers by Saipua)

Weekend Guide :: 12.3.10

Friday, December 3, 2010 Weekend Guide

We hope by now you’re all over your holiday food comas, because it’s time for round two—Hanukkah is upon us and Christmas is not far behind ! How better to celebrate the festival of lights, than with worldly interpretations of the always delicious Latke. You might find us at City Winery this Sunday checking out Mexican, Chinese, Israeli, or Cuban potato pancakes with fabulous wine to wash them down. Join us by purchasing tickets here. More in the mood for holiday sweets ? Then help raise money for PS 29 in Brooklyn by feasting on pie from their celebrity judge studded event. And if you’re still hungry Sunday night, Back Forties’ new Sunday series of one pot dinners sound soul warming – especially tempting with this turn in temperature. We hope you have a cheer filled weekend – stay warm ! (Written by Lizzy, Photos by Karen Mordechai from a private sunday suppers event, more on that next week)
