In Season :: Asparagus
Friday, May 13, 2011 UncategorizedWe want to pinch ourselves this week’s weather has been so beautiful. It has made us crave simply prepared beautiful ingredients. Can you get over how gorgeous this purple asparagus is ? A little change of color, and a common side becomes an exotic treat. We want this quickly steamed, blanched, or grilled. And we want to eat it on the roof outside this weekend. We hope you have similar plans : )

Yum. I just went outside my Washington home and picked some wild asparagus. That used to be a chore my mom gave us.
Asparagus JUST came into the farmer’s markets this week. So excited!
Just gorgeous. Deep purple or grass green, any fresh asparagus is a-okay by me. Especially when grilled and dressed up with a lemony vinaigrette and chopped hard-cooked egg, mimosa-style.
asparagus is amazing when so fresh & in season. the dishes to create with this veg are endless. enjoy the roof top & weekend. dayle
I’ve been following your blog and I just die over the food photography – SO beautifully captured.
I grow purple asparagus. It is sweet, and grows huge. The one sad thing about it is that it does not retain its color when cooked.
love asparagus, I have been eating it so much lately
got to eat it up before its gone
We are eating them now for almost a month and planning to till the end of season…
Healthy and yummy;-)
Oh how I love salted, grilled asparagus. My little girl and I eat it with our fingers, like ogres or giants or monsters. Chomp, chomp, chomp.
Adore asparagus, and if grilled, the better! they keep their flavor and tasty a bit of crunchy!!
Such simple ingredients can make the most amazing meals. We are in the grip of the cooler months here in Aus but I always look forward to the first bunches of asparagus at the farmers market because I find they are at their sweetest at the beginning of spring.
summer just showed its sunny face here in northern cali and tonight’s supper is going to be shaved asparagus + egg gratins with parm-reg. yum!
