We recently attended the Mexico City edition of Sobremesa, our new global dinner series. One of 37 dinner occurring this summer, the dinner was hosted by photographer Maureen Evans and served at Tezontle Studios, a collaborative sculpture studio located in Mexico City's Centro Historico. Opening up the doors of the building's tiny green manual elevator, we were greeted by a stunning long dining table amongst a sea of Tezontle artists Carlos H. Matos and Lucas Cantu's found objects and designs. We instantly felt right at home, and Sophia cooked barefoot in the kitchen with chef's Miwi and Nadia.
The energy of the guests, a group of photographers, architects, and designers, mixed with the warmth of the powerful women creating the meal, reminded us of the early days of Sunday Suppers at the studio. Focused on the beauty of the food and lingering around the table until the early hours of the morning, the dinner fully captured the essence of Sobremesa.
So much gratitude for Maureen Evans, Chef Miwi + Nadia and Tezontle Studios for hosting such a beautiful dinner. Stay tuned for more on Mexico City soon.
